GLENN'S STORY

Around the age of 9 or 10 I began helping my grandfather building wooden coups and pens for his chickens. The smell was addictive (the wood not the chickens) and so began a life-long love of wood and all that can be created from it.

I studied carpentry in high school when trades training was still available which led to an apprenticeship and a career framing new houses and renovating older ones throughout Southern Ontario. With the harsh winters came work slowdowns and layoffs, so I started learning woodworking and joinery, taking courses, reading everything I could get my hands on and learning from more experienced craftsman. After several years of learning and gaining experience in woodworking, I began a new career in the television and film industry. In 2005 I moved to England and found work building sets and props in studios for many films and television programs.

In 2010 I obtained a position as a teacher/lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery at a college in Essex, England. A wise man once said "You never really know something until you teach it to someone else" and that is very true. It was an amazing experience and I am truly grateful for having that opportunity.

In 2015 I returned to Canada and soon met my life partner, Catherine and her 2 boys. On a camping adventure exploring Nova Scotia in 2018 we all fell in love with the scenic beauty, small quaint fishing villages, the friendly people and the ruggedly beautiful coast lines of the province and in particular, the Annapolis Valley. In the summer of 2020 in the midst of all the Covid craziness, we bought our forever home and moved to the Annapolis Valley.

I hold a Journeyman Carpenter license and a City and Guilds Level 3 in joinery from the United Kingdom.
